How Much Does New Siding Cost in North Georgia?
Real project pricing for North Georgia homes.
LET'S TALK ABOUT YOUR PROJECTReal pricing. Clear expectations. Thoughtful remodeling for the way you live.
Ask most contractors what new siding costs and you'll hear "it depends" followed by a request to schedule an appointment. It does depend, but you deserve a starting point before anyone walks your property. The ranges below come from our own completed jobs across Metro Atlanta and North Georgia, not national averages pulled from a website.
By the end of this page you should know roughly what your project will cost, what moves the price up or down, and what to ask every contractor before you sign.

What drives the cost of new siding?
- The size and shape of your house. Siding is priced by the wall area covered, not the home's square footage. Two stories, steep gables, dormers, bump-outs and lots of corners all add labor and material.
- The material you choose. Primed James Hardie fiber cement and factory-finished James Hardie ColorPlus sit at different price points, and profiles such as shingle and board-and-batten cost more than standard lap siding. Trim, soffit and accent materials add their own line items.
- What's under the old siding. Nearly every re-side in Georgia uncovers some rotten sheathing, trim or framing, especially around windows, doors and the bottom courses. How much there is can swing a project by thousands of dollars.
- Paint and finish. Primed Hardie has to be painted on site. ColorPlus arrives with a baked-on factory finish and doesn't.
- Everything that connects to the siding. Trim, soffit and fascia, gutters, house wrap, insulation board and window trim details all affect the final number.
Why EXOVATIONS installs only James Hardie siding
We don't sell vinyl siding. James Hardie fiber cement stands up to Georgia heat, humidity, storms and woodpeckers, looks like real wood, and is non-combustible. Every siding range on this page is for a typical two-story North Georgia home with about 2,000-2,800 square feet of wall area.
James Hardie fiber cement siding (primed and painted)
For the same size home in HardiePlank lap siding with HardieTrim, house wrap and on-site painting, expect roughly $20,500-$28,750. Primed Hardie is the lower-cost James Hardie option and lets you choose any paint color, but it has to be painted on site and repainted over time.
James Hardie ColorPlus siding
ColorPlus is Hardie siding with a factory-applied, baked-on finish. A full ColorPlus re-side on a typical home runs about $22,540-$31,550. The material costs more than primed Hardie, but you skip jobsite painting, and the finish carries its own manufacturer warranty against peeling, cracking and chipping. Over 15-20 years, avoided repaints usually close much of the gap.
EXOVATIONS has been a James Hardie Alliance Elite contractor for more than 20 years and has completed more than 3,000 James Hardie projects.
Costs that are often left out of a siding quote
| Item | Typical cost | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Rotten sheathing or wood repair | $62 per sheet; about $500 on a typical job | Hard to see until the old siding comes off |
| Soffit and fascia replacement | $4,500-$6,300 | Wrapping is cheaper than replacing; replacing fixes rot |
| New gutters | $3,250-$4,550 | Easiest to do while the siding is off |
| Lead-safe work (homes built before 1978) | Included | We are an EPA lead-safe certified firm |
| Permit | $500-$800 | Varies by county and city |
Why two siding quotes for the same house can be $5,000 apart
- How rot is handled. A low quote often assumes no rotten wood, then adds it as a change order once the walls are open. We tell you up front how repairs will be priced.
- Installation method and certification. James Hardie's warranty depends on installing to its specifications: clearances, flashing, nailing, and the right trim details. EXOVATIONS was the first in its market to offer trim-over installation methods across all of its products. Ask every bidder whether they are Hardie certified.
- What's actually included. House wrap, flashing, trim, soffit, caulk and paint coats aren't always in the base price. Compare quotes line by line, not just the total.
If a quote looks too good to be true, it usually leaves something out.

Frequently asked questions
How much does siding cost per square foot in Atlanta?
Installed siding in our market typically runs $10.25-$10.75 per square foot of wall for primed and painted James Hardie, and $11.25-$11.75 for ColorPlus. Per-square-foot numbers are only useful if you know what's included, so ask whether trim, soffit, wrap and repairs are in the figure.
Is ColorPlus worth the extra cost over primed and painted Hardie?
For most homeowners who plan to stay in their home, yes. ColorPlus costs more up front, but you skip jobsite painting and future repaints, and the factory finish carries its own warranty. Primed and painted Hardie makes sense if you want a custom color outside the ColorPlus palette.
How long does a siding replacement take?
Most full re-sides take 7-14 working days once materials arrive. Larger homes or jobs with significant rot repair take longer. You can follow progress, photos and your schedule in our online client portal.
Can I see what my house will look like before I buy?
Yes. With EXOvision we show you your own home in different siding styles and colors before you commit.
Do you publish a price list?
No, because no two houses are the same. We publish these ranges so you can plan, and we'll give you an exact, itemized price during your consultation, before you sign anything.
